Coverups can be so glamorous!
This week I thought that since its a bit parky outside at this time of the year, I’d have a look at some of the beautiful garments available to keep you just that bit cosy. So shrugs, pashminas, vintage cardigans, capes, capelets, boleros are the name of the game – the more luxurious the better; don’t you just love this fur shrug?
If you are having a British wedding anytime between October and March, you may well need to consider some type of coverup if you need to go outside at some point during your big day; even transferring from a car to a venue can take time if your dress has a train/long veil and will need adjusting. Outside wedding photos from Autumn through Spring can also look stunning against bare trees and frosty scenes.
Would you consider a bit of homespun glamour with this beautiful hand knitted shrug? Why not add a few extra bits of sparkle too with gems and sequins if your dress is understated.
So the choice will depend upon your style of gown and your height. You will want to complement your gown so possibly similar colour tones or textures, and using feathers, lace and fur can look fab. However a few years ago I went to an Irish/Chinese wedding in December and the bride wore a magnificent full length red velvet cape over a stunning cream dress – all guests took a deep breath in wonder at the beautiful look!!
If we think of the vintage inspiration around currently (that looks like staying hurrah!) then vintage look boleros can be gorgeous like these ones. Mary has a beautiful selection here in the Wedding Room which really complement her designer gowns – go on, have a try on ; you know you want to………….
Two contrasting styles shown above, one fabulous for the bride and the other for bridesmaids maybe?
Until next time,
